Refreshing Classic Coleslaw

Classic coleslaw is a refreshing and crunchy salad made from finely shredded cabbage and carrots, dressed in a creamy, tangy dressing. It’s a perfect side dish for barbecues, picnics, and family gatherings, complementing a variety of main dishes.

Ingredients:


  • 1 small head of green cabbage, finely shredded
  • 1 large carrot, grated
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: 1/4 cup red cabbage, finely shredded (for color)
  • Optional: 1/4 cup chopped green onions or parsley (for garnish)

Cookware Needed:


  • Large mixing bowl
  • Whisk or spoon for mixing
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Grater or food processor (for shredding)

 


Directions:


Step 1: Prepare the Vegetables.
Finely shred the green cabbage and grate the carrot. If using red cabbage, shred it as well.

Step 2: Make the Dressing.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper until smooth.

Step 3: Combine Ingredients.
Add the shredded cabbage and grated carrot to the dressing. Toss until all the vegetables are well coated with the dressing.

Step 4: Chill.
Cover the coleslaw and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Step 5: Serve.
Before serving, give the coleslaw a good stir and adjust the seasoning if needed. Garnish with chopped green onions or parsley if desired.
