Classic Apple Pie

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 stick butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup ice cold water
  • 5-6 apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 egg yolk for brushing
  • 1 tbsp sugar for sprinkling

Method:

  1. Prepare the pie crust by combining flour, butter, and water in a bowl. Knead until smooth and shape into a disk. Chill for 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  3. In a large bowl, mix sliced apples with sugar and cinnamon.
  4. Roll out the pie crust and place in a pie dish. Fill with apple mixture.
  5. Cover with the remaining crust, seal the edges, and brush with egg yolk.
  6. Sprinkle with sugar and bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown.

Directions:

  • Use a rolling pin to flatten the pie crust evenly.
  • When filling the pie, ensure the apples are tightly packed but not overflowing.
  • Seal the edges of the pie crust with a fork or your fingers to prevent leakage.

Tip: Use a glass pie dish to monitor the baking progress and ensure the crust doesn't burn.
