Ingredients:

For the Cookies:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)

 

For the Decoration:

 

  • 1 cup black icing (store-bought or homemade)
  • 48 candy eyes
  • 24 chocolate-covered pretzel sticks (for legs)

 

Cookware Needed:

 

  • Mixing bowls
  • Baking sheets or frying pan
  • Parchment paper
  • Cooling rack

 

 

Directions:

Step 1: Preheat the Oven.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

Step 2: Mix the Dough.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.

Step 3: Combine Dry Ingredients.
In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.

Step 4: Shape the Cookies.
Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough and place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Flatten each ball slightly with the palm of your hand.

Step 5: Bake.
Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

Step 6: Decorate.
Once the cookies are completely cool, use the black icing to create a spider shape on each cookie. For each spider, place 2 candy eyes on top and arrange 4 chocolate-covered pretzel sticks on each side for legs.

Step 7: Serve and Enjoy.
